YOUR CHILD’S ADJUSTMENT It is normal for your child to have some fears and misgivings about being away from you. Children, like adults, need time to become accustomed to new situations. Try to prepare your child for the changes as far in advance as possible. If appropriate, discuss with your child any concerns and talk about some of the new people your child will meet and the things your child will do. If this is the first time your child has been separated from you, it is natural for the child to be hesitant. A cheerful good-bye kiss from you, a smile, and a reassuring word that you will return after work is all that you need to do. Usually the child settles down after the parent leaves. Many activities are offe3red to provide a transition for your child during these uncomfortable moments. Please do not sneak out when your child is not looking. Feel free to call anytime throughout the day if you have any questions or concerns. DEVELOPMENTAL CURRICULUM Throughout the year every child’s developmental skills are assessed in these areas: Cognitive, Language, Physical, and Social. Curriculum content is derived from each child’s ability and interest level. Age appropriate activities are planned and implemented to further each child’s growth. I encourage parental input as the curriculum is developed. PETS Animals are an important element of our environment. Animals instill in children a feeling of respect for nature. Animals are groomed regularly to prevent shedding and other allergies. All animals are current on vaccinations and are registered. We currently keep a dog and sugar gliders. You will be notified if we acquire any additional pets. SUPERVISION Children enrolled at Serena’s Magical Child Care will be properly supervised at all times to ensure safety and security. Sleeping children will be checked every 15 minutes. Outside play will only be allowed under adult supervision. While using the restroom facilities, toddler age children will be supervised by an adult to offer assistance as needed. DAILY ACTIVITIES Daily activities are planned in accordance with the child’s age and special needs to promote physical, social, emotional and intellectual development.
